Castelldefels is a Mediterranean chamber town located 20 km from Barcelona. It attracts tourists with an infinitely long beach, a pleasant atmosphere and well-developed infrastructure. Spaniards live here with an income above the average, so the local public is used to being content with services and goods of exceptionally high quality.

HOW TO REACH FROM BARCELONA AIRPORT TO KASTELDEFELS?

The distance between the air harbor and the resort is only 15 km.

There are 2 terminals at the airport where international flights land – T1 and T2. From both, you can easily get to Castelldefels, but in different ways. A free bus runs between the terminals from 5:30 to 24:00 with an interval of 7-10 minutes.

T1 terminal
Bus

At the exit of the building is a covered stop. You need to take the L99 bus. He goes to the center of Castelldefels. Ticket price is about 2 €. Interval of movement 30-45 minutes. Transport runs from 07:00 to 22:15. It will take about 30 minutes to drag. The final stop is located in the historical part of the city near the railway station. If you need a beach and adjoining hotels, you need to transfer to L95 or L96 buses and continue the journey (10-15 minutes).

T2 terminal
Electric train

Take the train to El Prat de Llobregat. Travel time is approximately 5-7 minutes. Next, you need to transfer to another train in the direction of Sitges – Sant Vicenç de Calders and get off at Castelldefels station. It will take 10 minutes to overcome the final leg of the journey. The total price of tickets is a little over 4 €. Trains in both directions run from 05:30 to 01:17 with an interval of 20 minutes to 1 hour. You can check the timetable on the Spanish Railways website.

In any terminal you can take a taxi. The trip will cost 20-25 €. It takes about 20 minutes to get there.

BEACHES

A recreation area, about 5 km long, stretched from the Garraf Nature Reserve to the Llobregat River. The coastline is divided into beaches. Castelldefels and Port Ginesta awarded the Blue Flag for environmental achievement. All beaches are municipal, and therefore admission to them is free. There is the necessary infrastructure: changing cabins, toilets, showers, sports and playgrounds, cafes and snack bars. The safety of tourists is provided by lifeguards on the towers.

Sun loungers and umbrellas are rented for money. Basically, vacationers come with their umbrellas and are located in their shadow on a towel. The sand is soft, so lying down is quite comfortable.

Sports equipment rental is provided by hotels on the first coastline adjacent to the beach area.

The entrance to the sea is gentle, there are no stones and pits, jellyfish and other representatives of the ichthyofauna do not bother.

The main beach activities are football, volleyball and surfing. To conquer the waves is taught at a school in Port Hinest.

Water and air temperature

The swimming season begins in late May. In the summer, the thermometer is held at 28-30 ° C. Water warms up to maximum temperatures (24-26 ° C) in July-August. Rains at this time of the year are a rarity.

ATTRACTIONS

There are no special architectural monuments in the resort, in order to satisfy cultural hunger, you should go to Barcelona. Nevertheless, the town has something to brag about.

Castelldefels Castle
Acquaintance with Castelldefels should begin with a tour of the castle of the same name, located on a hill, from where a stunning panorama of the surroundings opens.

It was originally a fortress to protect Barcelona from the raids of the Moors. Over time, the building was almost destroyed, but in the 19th century it was restored. The main highlight of the architectural complex is the garden with palm trees, fruit trees, ornamental shrubs and flower beds.

The castle is open for visitors from Tuesday to Friday inclusive from 17:00 to 21:00. Guided tours are available that will tell you about the history of the city and important milestones in the history of the castle.

Church of St. Mary
A little further, a few blocks from the castle, is the Church of St. Mary. The interior is impressive. Frescoes made by the outstanding artist Jose Serra Santa, a massive altar, Gothic medieval chandeliers, majestic carved vaults remind of the transience of human life and the eternity of material things.

Towers
The town has preserved several medieval buildings dating from the 16-17th centuries. These are the watch and defense towers of Cal Moliner, Torre Antoni, Torre Barona, Torre Climent Saval and Torre de Can Valls de la Muntanyeta. It will not work to get inside, it is only possible to enjoy their outstanding exterior.

Garraf Nature Reserve
The nature park has a collection of rare specimens of flora and fauna characteristic of this region. Sheer cliffs, karst funnels and dangerous cliffs complete the landscape. Walking paths are designed for walkers.
