Laguna Colorada is another colored lake, whose name translates as “red lake”. The red shade of the lake arose due to the presence of borax dissolved in water formed by seaweed deposits. This shallow salt lake is located in the north of the Altiplano desert, in Bolivia.

Plitvice Lakes is a chain of 16 large and many small cascading lakes spread over 217 hectares in the national park of the same name in Croatia.
This is one of the few places on earth where new waterfalls are born every year. Foliage and branches that fell into the water from trees are covered with calcephiles (chalk plants), which, when they die, become stone and form hard deposits that overlap rivers. Water gradually erodes them, and new waterfalls form.
The color of the water in Plitvice Lakes varies depending on the concentration of microorganisms, minerals and the angle of incidence of sunlight.
